ABOUT HAMISH MURRAY

Hamish Murray started in construction helping his father on a 'fixer-upper' in 1996, after he graduated from university in New Zealand and immigrated to the United States. He started his own company in 2000. Hamish lives in a remodeled 1910 Craftsman home in southwest Portland, with his wife and son.

Hamish has built his business by putting his client's happiness above the bottom line. His attention to detail and quality workmanship has gained him most of his clients by word-of-mouth.

Whether your project is a small addition or remodel, or an entirely new house, you will always be treated as our most important client. You are welcome to participate as much, or as little, as you wish. We have the flexibility to meet all of your needs, whether you want to run the project and need a framer or finish carpenter, or if you want to hand over the plans and move in when your project is complete.

We dedicate ourselves to a limited number of projects annually, so that we can take a hands-on role in all aspects of your project. We are on-site from the day we first look at your project, right through until the final nail is pounded.

Our specialties lie in residential additions, structural remodeling and new construction. We handle many aspects of the projects personally, including demolition, excavation, concrete work, framing, window/door installation, siding, and finish carpentry. We have a close-knit group of subcontractors to take care of the rest of your project with the same care and attention to detail that we take pride in. We will also happily refer you to an architect or real estate agent, to help you find the perfect lot and design your new home to match.

About Bill Doss, our Window Specialist

Bill Doss began working full time in the construction industry in 1986, while finishing his undergraduate degree. Over the next six years, he learned and developed his skills in many facets of the industry. His experience includes everything from framing, electrical, and insulation to plumbing, piping, windows and doors.

In 1991, Bill took a small break from the industry and returned to school to pursue another passion, teaching. He completed the advanced coursework required to obtain his state certified teaching credentials in secondary education. He taught and coached for three years and worked in construction during the summers. Early in 1996, he transitioned into corporate training and auditing. For the next three years, he successfully helped to shape major policy changes and advance site-level training.

Then in 1999, Bill combined his construction skills and teaching when he returned to the industry working for a major retailer selling doors, windows, and all other building materials. He excelled at sharing his knowledge of products and skills in installation with customers and other associates.

Over the next four years, he continued to expand his knowledge of many wood, fiberglass, and vinyl doors and windows receiving training from various manufactures. In 2002, he was recruited and began working for Milgard Windows as an inside sales and technical support person. As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence, they continued to examine competitive brands of windows and doors for quality and performance differences. He learned the industry's best practices for installation through AAMA (American Architectural Manufacturers Association) certified classes.

Bill began working for Medallion Industries in 2004, as a sales representative, selling many different brands of doors, millwork, and windows. He immersed himself in many manufacturers’ training classes, and is certified as an installer for many of them. He has visited the production facilities for many of the industry’s leading manufacturers, and seen the quality and craftsmanship that goes into building their products. Through his many experiences and years of training, he has remained truly committed to keeping his service at the highest level of accuracy, quality, and ethics.
